World of Warcraft Combat Tips

Engaging in combat in World of Warcraft is, for many people, what the game is all about. After all, the game gives you a chance to prove you worth and what better way to do that than by successful combat? There are some things to know that can help improve you chances of survival.

The first thing to know is that not all fights take as the same amount of time. The length of combat depends on a variety of things, including the monster’s level and class, the kind of equipment involved, and what kind spells are cast. The lower the level of the monster, the quicker the fight tends to go.

Although it may seem like a simple thing, remember that if you run out of health you will die. Your health is identified by the green bar up in the top corner on your left. To see exactly how much health you’ve got left, simply hold the cursor over the bar. If you notice you’ve got health problems on the way, you can restore it via healing spells, as well as with potions. When the battle is over, you can also restore your health by eating or resting.

Sometimes during a battle you will get stunned. When that happens your character freezes up and there’s nothing he—or you—can do about the situation. You’ll just have to wait there until the stun wears off. You can determine how long that will be by placing your cursor over the stun icon located in the top right corner.

In addition to getting stunned, eventually you’ll be target of a curse. Certain monsters can cast spells on you that will have a wide variety of effects. Some of these curses can last quite a long time, certainly longer than the stun lasts. If you find yourself under a curse, your only options are to get help from a party member who has the ability to curse the curse, or to locate a cure yourself in the form of a potion or some kind of item.

Similar to a curse in some respects, you may also find yourself attacked with a fear spell. When this happens, you no longer retain control of your character. Your name turns red and the character may suddenly just take off in any direction whatever. Until the spell wears off, you will be unable to use items or cast spells yourself. And even though you can’t do anything about it until the spell wears off, protocol specifies that you let the other members of your party know your condition. You can do this simply by typing the word “feared.”
